23 of the Worst Gaming Setups the World Has Seen
Gaming is one of those things that can come with a hefty price tag to get your dream setup. Obviously, not everyone can afford to spend that kind of money so some of us have to make do with what we have.
I'm not sure whether these gaming setups are because of a lack of funds, or from a simple absence of care. Whatever the reason is, there's no denying that what you’re about to see below will make you appreciate your own setup so much more.

The not-so-stable system setup. This guy is lacking about 3/4ths of whats needed for a desk but he seems to have figured out a workaround as long as he doesn't get too animated when he plays. -
4.
Dungeons and Dragons on with a buddy. Maybe it's the peace and quiet of the basement, or perhaps playing horror games is enhanced with literal spiders and bugs crawling around you. Either way, no thanks. -
5.
This seems like the setup of someone who enjoys playing flight sims and flight combat games. Dual joysticks - Check. Gas/Brake and Rudder Control Pedals - Check. Old AF CRT TV sitting on top of a flimsy ass fold-able table - Check mate. -
6.
Ah yes, the poor man's gaming setup. This one hits close to home as I had a very similar setup (minus the milk crates) for about a year when I first moved out on my own. -
7.
This one is an odd choice because while the setup clearly shows dedication to gaming and some ingenuity in it's design, for the price of all of these components you could buy a pretty decent pre-built rig, or even build you own. -
8.
The recliner for your gaming seems like a great idea and can be quite comfortable with a console setup. Too bad you'll be sitting on the very edge of your seat every time things get tough or you need to really concentrate, essentially eliminating the benefit of the plush lazyboy. Also, the cabinet the PC is sitting inside is going to retain all that heat making your system run hot and your room about 10-15 degrees hotter. -
9.
If you can't afford to setup a liquid cooling system for your gaming machine, you can always go with air-cooled. Suspending all your components wouldn't be my first choice however, I bet they've walked into that stuff a thousand times at night or when navigating in the dark. -
10.
Similar to people, it's really what's on the inside of your machine that counts. Why break the bank for a big shiny fancy case when an old pizza box will do the trick? -
11.
If you saw this heinous cart roll into the classroom in high school you knew it was gonna be a good day. If you're the unfortunate soul that calls this setup their own, my heart goes out to you. -
12.
If you've ever been called a basement dweller, chances are you have a set up similar to this one. The hard floor is the perfect thing to make sure you're never truly comfortable as you strain your eyes looking at the 15 inch tv on the opposite side of the room. -
13.
Another clever idea for keeping your PC cool while gaming if you don't have or cant afford other cooling methods. The only drawback here is that your electricity bill is probably going to cost more than buying a newer rig would. -
14.
This one isn't so bad. He's got the taped up xbox controller, the xbox headset with RGB splitter / converter. I guess my only gripe is the 10 in screen he's playing on but hey if it works, it works. -
15.
You know how you see random shopping carts littered around places like apartment complexes and bus stops? Well now you can play your part in helping recycle them buy flipping one upside down as it instantly converts into a gaming desk. This is another posture-nightmare setup though. -
16.
Similar to a previous example, this pizza box craptop seems to have a little more crammed into the box like the keyboard and mouse. Watch that fan when you're typing or you might draw back a nub. -
17.
This racing setup combines thriftiness with a little bit of ingenuity for this racing setup. However, anyone who has sat in those fabric foldable chairs know after about 20 minutes the edges of those chairs start digging into your legs and butt making it quite uncomfortable. -
18.
With a box fan air cooling setup, tiny monitor, keyboard on a small table, and and uncomfortable chair with no support, this gamer is headed for the "my back hurts" hall of fame. -
19.
So this one isn't terrible, it looks like a decent laptop and a sturdy desk but the lack of the pedals as well as the very low position of the steering wheel is gonna make you feel like an adult crammed into a kid-sized gokart. -
20.
There's a lot going on in this one. Is this some sort of make shift prison cell in that creepy guy down the streets basement? Or perhaps just someone making the most of limited space. Either way the combination of that low ceiling and plastic lawn chair are going to result in some much needed visits to the Chiropractor. -
21.
If you want to play the latest games but don't have a fancy rig, just remove the side of your case and tape a fan to it. That way you blow cool air and dirt and debris right into the most delicate parts of your machine. -
22.
This is another example of what appears to be a decent gaming machine, but problematic setup. Sitting on a chair made from a box and playing on a desk also made from taped up boxes is just a recipe for disaster. -
23.
This one might make you say hold up, wait a minute... Xbox, Big Screen TV and Steering Wheel with Pedal combo are all good to go. However sitting that close to the TV and you're not gonna be gaming or watching anything after you get a headache and blurry vision. -
24.
Laying in bed while watching TV or browsing on your phone can be comfortable enough, but trying to game in this position is just not where it's at. Not to mention the crusty whatever that is all over the fabric is just revolting. -
25.
Another example of you don't *NEED* to have a fancy case... or even have a case at all. You just better make darn sure you don't spill any liquids on your desk (which is pretty much a requirement of being a PC gamer) and better pray your don't accidentally grab a live wire or *puts on shades* you'll be in for a shock.
